The Coffeyville Community College baseball team played a home double header against the Neosho Panthers with the Red Ravens losing both games, 4-3 and 3-1.
The losses drop the Red Ravens overall record to 14-22 on the year and drops their KJCCC conference record to 6-14.
Game #1 saw the Red Ravens pull ahead 3-0 after three innings, but a 4 run sixth inning by the Panthers sealed the seven inning win for Neosho, 4-3.
Even though the Red Ravens out hit the Panthers (9 hits to 4) and Neosho committing seven errors in the game, the Red Ravens were not able to group their hits and/or take advantage of the errors to enable the victory.
Offensive leaders for Coffeyville included freshmen Bret Mitchell (3 for 4 with a double), sophomore Kyler Cook (2 for 4 with a double), and sophomore Bryan Miranda (2 for 4). Kyler Cook, freshmen Damon Jorgensen and freshmen Tywon Mackey Jr. each had a RBI in the game.
Freshmen right hander Garon Johnson was on the mound for the Red Ravens going 5 innings, allowing 2 earned on 3 hits while striking out 5. Sophomore right hander Bradly Hershey came on in relief for the Red Ravens going 2 innings, allowing 2 earned on 1 hit and striking out 3.
Game #2 saw a tight scoreless game through five innings before Neosho scored single runs in the sixth, seventh and ninth innings. The Red Ravens were able to score one run in the bottom of the ninth to close the gap, but were not able to get the win, losing 3-1.
Sophomore right hander Josh Maple was the starter for Coffeyville going 6 innings, allowing 1 earned on 4 hits and striking out 3.
Coffeyville's next action will come on Tuesday, April 4th with a home game against Northern Oklahoma Collge-Tonkawa. First pitch is set for 3:00 pm at Walter Johnson Park.
