The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Women and Men's Outdoor Track and Field teams competed at the 2017 NJCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships held May 18-20th at Hutchinson Community College in Hutchinson Kansas.
The Red Raven women's team placed 11th with 26 points while the men's team placed 12th with 27 points.
Overall, New Mexico Jr College (97 points) won the women's team title and South Plains (126 points) won the men's team title.
The Coffeyville women's team was led by their sprint relays with the Red Raven women's 4x100m relay placing first (All-American status) and winning a National Championship in a time of 46.01 seconds. Members of the 4x100m relay included freshman Kimani Evans, sophomore Shalei Matthews, sophomore Mikayla Dudley and sophomore Loushanya Nemour. The 4x400m relay team of sophomore Kalei Matthews, sophomore Dinina Henry, freshman Kimani Evans and sophomore Mikayla Dudley turned in a finals time of 3:46.19, which earned the team a third place finish and All-American status.
Individual event competitors placing in the top 8 earn NJCAA/USTFCCCA All-American Honors.
Red Raven women placing in the top 8 included;
Sophomore DeQuan Lovell was the top pointer earner for the Red Raven Men's Track and Field team earning a total of 10 points. Lovell placed 3rd in the Shot Put (16.90m, 55'5.5") and 5th in the Discus (48.16m, 158').
Other Red Raven men placing in the top 8 included;
Sophomore Kelvin Almonte placing 6th in 110m hurdles (14.25)
Soophomore Josephus Davies placing 6th in Hammer (54.08m, 177'05")
Men's 4x400m Relay (sophomore Jimmy Keys, freshman Kyle Nelson, freshman Jermaine Holt and freshman Jaelon Carmona) placed 7th (3:14.26)
