Jake Martin will be in his fourth season as the Head Coach for the Red Ravens and eighth overall season at Coffeyville Community College. They have a record of 207 -199 in his time in Coffeyville.
Prior to becoming the head coach, Martin served as the assistant coach for the Red Ravens from 2012 through 2015. Martin helped guide the Ravens to their most successful four year run with a 133-105 mark in his four years as an assistant including four straight appearances at the Region VI Tournament in Wichita from 2012 through the 2015 season. In 2014, the Ravens set a school record for wins with 38 and in 2012 and 2013. They have reached the postseason all seven years and had a five year stretch where they reached the tournament in Wichita consecutively. Where they twice finished runner-up, 1 game shy of reaching it to the College World Series. While with the Ravens in his seven years he has coached 13 players that have gone on to play Division 1, 39 to play Division 2, and 18 players to play NAIA baseball. He has had 3 former Ravens players play professional baseball, with 2 of them being drafted. Dustin Hurlbutt, a Coffeyville native, is currently still active and has made it as high as Triple A with the Oakland Athletics. He has had 76 NJCCC Academic award winners, 50 KJCCC All Conference selections, and 8 of them being first team selections, and one NJCAA All American and conference player of the year in his time with the Ravens
After his senior year at ESU in 2011, Jake began coaching for the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters from the Northwoods League as an assistant coach in the summer time. He took over as head coach midway through the year, and remained as head coach for the next three years. He helped guide them to a team record in wins at the all-star break and full season. During his time he helped guide 27 players to their dream of playing professional baseball. One of those being as high as a second round draft pick, Donnie Dewees, who is in Triple A now with the KC Royals. He also has had one player make it to the Major Leagues, Ben Heller, with the NY Yankees. JP Feyereisen is another player that has been successful making it up to Triple A with the NY Yankees and having a chance to make it up to the Major Leagues.
Jake played one year at Barton County Community College, one year at Mid-America Nazarene University, and his last two years at Emporia State University.
A native of Shawnee, KS. Martin graduated with his bachelor’s degree in science and recreation from Emporia State in 2011. He married the former Chelsey Beavers in 2015 and has one son, Maddox.
