The 2019 Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Football team opened up their season on the road Thursday, August 22nd against the #2 NJCAA preason ranked Iowa Western Reivers. This led to the Reivers first score of the game, a 14 yard pass to reach the endzone that tied up the game 7-7. The Ravens attempted a field goal late in second quarter, but it was wide left and the halftime score was set at 7-7.
The game turned in the first 7 minutes of the third quarter. The Red Ravens came out after halftime and quickly gave up a 60 yard run for a TD along with a short 7 yard rush for a TD to the Reivers. This was quickly followed up by a saftey scored by Iowa Western. The combination of those first 7 minutes of the third quarter (a combined 16 points) put the Ravens behind 23-7. From that point on, Coffeyville was not able to recover.
However, Iowa Western was able to get the victory with the final score of 36-14.
