Cody Oates will be in his fourth season with the Red Ravens.   While with Coffeyville, Coach Oates has served as the Offensive Line coach and is currently in the position of Assistant Head Coach/Run Game Coordinator.  As the offenisve line coach in 2018, Oates coached 4 players to all conference honors.
Before coming to the Red Ravens, Coach Oates spent a season as an offensive assistant working with the Missouri Tigers’ offensive line. He joined the Tigers in the spring of 2015 after spending five seasons as the offensive line coach at Butler Community College in El Dorado, Kansas.
During his tenure at Butler, Oates coached 13 all-conference performers on the offensive line, including three NJCAA All-Americans. All 13 players earned NCAA scholarships, including 12 at the Division I level.
In 2012, Oates helped mold an offensive line unit that led the Jayhawk Conference in points (55.5 per game), total offense (508.3 yards per game) and rushing (223.7 yards per game). All five starting linemen earned All-Jayhawk Conference honors at the end of the season with three on the first-team one on the second-team and another honorable mention pick.
Prior to joining Butler, Oates spent the previous two years as an assistant football coach at Northern Heights High School in Allen, Kan. Oates was the varsity offensive and defensive line coach and the head junior varsity coach for a team that led the state in passing offense with a quarterback who threw for 49 touchdowns.
As a player, Oates was an offensive lineman at Butler in 2004 and 2006, helping the Grizzlies win conference titles both years with a combined record of 22-2. He then went on to play at Emporia State in 2007.
Oates is originally from Topeka, Kansas, where he was a three-year starter for Washburn Rural High School.
