Red Ravens Open 2026 Season With a 4-Game Split with SWCC
Coffeyville, Kan. - The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Baseball Team opened up its 2026 season with a 2-2 split in an opening weekend 4-game series against Southwestern Community College. Coffeyville opened up the season winning both ends of a doubleheader (7-4 & 11-6) on Friday (Feb. 6th) and followed that by losing both ends of a doubleheader on Saturday (9-5 & 8-4).

In Game #1, Coffeyville fought back after trailing 4-0 early to score the final 7 runs of the game to earn the 7-4 opening game victory. Red Raven sophomore Harrison Barham and red-shirt freshman Nathan Tajchman each helped power the Coffeyville offense, each going 2 for 3 at the plate with an RBI each. Freshman lefty Coen Miller got the win for the Ravens, going 2 innings,s allowing no runs on 0 hits and 4 strikeouts.

Game #2 saw Coffeyville jump out early, scoring 5 runs over the first 2 innings, highlighted by Red Raven sophomore Colton Ruedy crushing a grand-slam home run in the bottom of the second inning. Coffeyville would go on to cruise to the 11-6 victory. Red Raven left fielder Nathan Tajchman stayed hot at the plate, going 3 for 4 in the game and, including the first game, was 5 for 7 on the day. Freshman righty Nicholas Westendorp earned the victory for Coffeyville, going 2 and 2/3 innings, allowing no earned on 1 hit and striking out 6.

Coffeyville scored 3 in the bottom of the first, with Southwestern then scoring the next 6 runs on their way to defeating the Ravens 9-5. Freshman Coen Miller led the Ravens at the plate, going 2 for 4 on the day with 2 RBIs.

The Red Ravens and the Spartans were tied up after the scheduled 7 innings and played another 3 innings before Southwestern broke the tie with an 8-4 victory. Red-shirt sophomore Brady Shackelford went 2 for 3 on the day with 2 RBIs, while freshman Max Irwin went 2 for 5 with 2 RBIs as well.
Coffeyville will return to action on Tuesday, February 10th, as they will play a doubleheader in Edmond, Oklahoma, in the 2026 JUCO Spring Festival. The Ravens are scheduled to play NEO at 3:00 p.m. and then turn around and play Grayson College at 5:30 p.m.
