#RV Ravens Fall in Season Opener to #RV Cisco 21-14 in OT
Coffeyville, Kan. - The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Football Team opened up their 2025 season with an overtime 21-14 loss at the hands of the Wranglers of Cisco Community College.
In a largely defensive battle, Cisco struck first with Keith Rockwell punching in a 19-yard touchdown run early in the first quarter, capping an 11-play, 85-yard drive that lasted over five minutes. Coffeyville responded in the third quarter, as Red Raven redshirt freshman quarterback Mac Armstrong connected with redshirt sophomore receiver Khris Thomas on a 17-yard touchdown pass (Aidan Burgess kick good), leveling the score at 7-7.
Just a few minutes later in the third quarter, Coffeyville's defense stepped up, with Raven redshirt freshman defensive back Da'Mare Williams returning an interception 45 yards for a touchdown (Aidan Burgess kick good), giving Coffeyville a 14-7 lead midway through the third quarter.
As the third quarter ended, Cisco's Rockwell again scored, this time on a 34-yard pass to tie the game up at 14-14 heading into the fourth quarter.
In a hard-fought fourth quarter, Coffeyville lined up for the go-ahead 43-yard field goal with just under a minute left in the game; however, Cisco blocked the attempt, and the game went into overtime.
Cisco had the ball first in overtime, and Cisco's Rockwell capped off his three-touchdown afternoon with a 2-yard rushing touchdown to put Cisco up 21-14. Coffeyville was not able to convert its OT chance into points, and Cisco had the 21-14 victory over Coffeyville.
The Red Ravens will look to regroup over the next couple of weeks before they travel to Garden City to play the Broncbusters on Saturday, September 20th. Kick-off in Garden City is set for 7:00 p.m.
