Offense and Defense both Roll as #14 Red Ravens Defeat the Scotties of Highland 51-0
Highland, Kan. - The #14-ranked Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Football Team rolled up 281 yards rushing as the Red Ravens defeated the Highland Scotties 51-0. With the victory, Coffeyville improves its overall record to 3-2, as well as improving its KJCCC record to a league leading 3-0.
It was a dominant display of offense and defense as the Ravens cruised to a 51-0 victory over Highland.
On offense, Red Raven sophomore running back Steven Robinson set the tone early with a 77-yard touchdown run, giving Coffeyville the early 7-0 lead. The Red Raven ground game was relentless, with Robinson finishing the day with 152 yards and two touchdowns, while freshmen Carlos Williams and Diesel Solari also contributed with solid rushing performances. Red Raven freshman quarterback Mac Armstrong was efficient at quarterback, completing 11 of 17 passes for 109 yards and two touchdowns. Catching the ball from Armstrong included sophomore Jalile Bost (6 catches for 61 yards and a touchdown) and freshman Michael Kenon (3 catches for 50 yards). Coffeyville's O-Line did an excellent job opening gaps and simply overpowering the Scotties as the Ravens racked up 436 yards of total offense.
Defensively, Coffeyville suffocated Highland's offense, forcing turnovers and applying relentless pressure. Red Raven freshman Darryl Walton Jr. led the way with 4 solo tackles, while sophomore Jack Lanning and freshman Wesley Edison each added 3 tackles apiece. Sophomore Brandon Heyward had 2 sacks of Gabe McWilliams, Highland's quarterback. Coffeyville limited Highland to just 168 total yards and kept their offense off the scoreboard entirely.
Next up for Coffeyville will be their Homecoming game, slated for Saturday, October 18th, as they will host Iowa Central. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
