Red Ravens Fly to a 52-7 Defeat of the Panthers of Ellsworth CC
Coffeyville, Kan. - The #13-NJCAA ranked Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Football Team jumped out early in a 52-7 defeat of the Panthers of Ellsworth. With the victory, Coffeyville improves its overall record to 5-3, including a 3-1 record in Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) matchups.
From the opening drive, Coffeyville set the tone, marching 65 yards in just over three minutes, culminating in a 42-yard touchdown pass from Red Raven redshirt freshman quarterback Mac Armstrong to freshman receiver Michael Kenon. The Ravens continued their offensive assault throughout the first half, adding a second touchdown on a 20-yard pass from Armstrong to redshirt freshman tight end Ryley Zalusky, and a third on a 2-yard run by redshirt freshman running back Carlos Williams, building a commanding 21-0 lead early in the game.
Coffeyville's offense kept the pressure on, with sophomore Steven Robinson punching in a 5-yard touchdown run to extend the lead to 28-0 by halftime. In the second half, Coffeyville continued to dominate, with freshman quarterback Brady Driver adding a 5-yard rushing touchdown as well as Driver connecting with Jordan Louie for a 21-yard touchdown pass, pushing the score to 52.
Coffeyville's offensive effort was highlighted by their ability to convert on third downs, completing 50% of their attempts, and their efficient rushing game, averaging 5.6 yards per carry. The defense was relentless, recording four sacks and ten tackles for loss, and limiting Ellsworth's passing game to only 161 yards while intercepting two passes.
Coffeyville returns to action with a road clash against the Conquistadors of Dodge City on Saturday, November 8th. Kickoff in Dodge City is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
