#8 Red Ravens Get Out of Dodge with a 42-10 Victory over the Conquistadors!
Dodge City, Kan. - The #8 NJCAA-ranked Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Football Team rode into Dodge City and left with a 42-10 victory over the Conquistadors. With the victory, Coffeyville improves its overall record to 6-3, including a 4-1 mark in Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) matchups.
The game got off to a rocky start as Dodge City struck first with a 22-yard run by D Shanks Jr., putting the Conquistadors up 7-0 early in the first quarter. However, Coffeyville responded quickly, tying the game with a 13-yard touchdown pass from red-shirt quarterback Mac Armstrong to sophomore receiver Jalile Bost. The Red Ravens took the lead in the second quarter, capitalizing on a fumble recovery by Raven freshman linebacker Kaleb Stewart that set up a successful extra point, making it 17-7.
In the third quarter, Coffeyville exploded offensively, scoring 25 points. The highlight was a punt blocked and returned for a touchdown, along with a 51-yard career-long field goal by Red Raven freshman kicker Aidan Burgess. Freshman Jordan Louie contributed with a 21-yard rushing touchdown, and sophomore Steven Robinson caught a 5-yard pass from Armstrong to cap the scoring barrage.
Dodge City managed a late field goal in the fourth quarter, but it was not enough to close the gap.
Offensively, Coffeyville was led by Mac Armstrong's efficient passing (8-13 for 86 yards) and sophomore Jalile Bost receiving effort (3 catches for 52 yards and a touchdown). The rushing attack was powered by Steven Robinson (11 carries, 66 yards) and Jordan Louie (5 carries, 45 yards, 1 TD).
Defensively, Coffeyville stifled Dodge City's offense. Freshman Robert Deal led the Raven defense with 7 tackles, while freshmen Nakarius Allen and Maurice Wells contributed with 7 and 6 tackles, respectively.
Coffeyville will end its regular season just up the road in Montgomery County, as they will travel to face the Pirates of Independence. Gametime is set for Saturday, November 15th, with kickoff set for 6:00 p.m.
