Red Raven Men's Team Picked 1st, Raven Women Picked 3rd in KJCCC Basketball Preseason Basketball "Predicted Order of Finish"
Securing 162 total points and six of 13 first-place votes, the Coffeyville Community College men's basketball team has been selected to win the KJCCC Division 1 Men's Basketball predicted order of finish poll, as voted on by the 13 league coaches ahead of the 2025-26 season.
The Red Ravens are coming off a second-place finish in the 2024-25 KJCCC D1 men's basketball regular season standings as Coffeyville went 23-9 overall and 18-6 in the KJCCC while advancing to the NJCAA Region 6 Tournament semifinals. Under the guidance of Coach Jay Herkelman, the Red Ravens have won 16 conference titles, with their most recent conference championship coming in 2021.
After Coffeyville, Cowley (142 points), and Barton (142 points) tied for second, with Cowley earning 4 first-place votes while Barton earned 1. Hutchinson (123 points) was voted fourth in the order, while Butler (95 points) rounded out the top 5.
On the women's side, the Red Raven women's basketball team was picked to finish third. Dodge City (153 points) was picked to finish 1st in the KJCCC, while Dodge City (149 points) was picked 2nd. Both Hutchinson and Dodge City had 3 first-place votes in the poll. Coffeyville (143 points) was picked 3rd; however, Coffeyville's women also had 3 first-place votes in the poll. Rounding out the top 5 for women included Butler (139 points) in 4th and Garden City (103 points) in fifth.
Coffeyville's Women's team, coached by Tony Turner, is coming off a season that saw them go 26-6 overall while placing 3rd in the KJCCC regular season and losing in the Region 6 Championship game.
Coffeyville was the only school to have both teams (women & men) ranked in the top 3 in the KJCCC preseason poll.
The 2025-26 Red Raven Basketball season kicks off on Saturday, November 1st, with the Red Raven Women playing the Bethany JV at 5:00 pm and the Red Raven Men playing the Southwestern JV at 7:00 pm in Nellis Hall.
