#8 Red Ravens Earn Two Victories in Iowa Including a 77-69 Victory Over #20 John A Logan
Ottumwa, Iowa - The #8-NJCAA ranked Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Men's Basketball Team traveled to Ottumwa, Iowa this past weekend to compete in the Indian Hills Community College RV & Powersports Classic. In their first matchup on Friday, the Ravens defeated #20 John A Logan 77-69 and then, with a quick turnaround, defeated Malcolm X College on Saturday 76-63. With the victories, Coffeyville's overall record improves to 4-0 on the season.
Friday (November 7th) - Ravens defeat #20 John A Logan College 77-69
After trailing 40-37 at halftime against John A Logan, the Red Ravens dominated the second half, outscoring the Chargers 40-29 in the half, enabling Coffeyville to post the 77-69 victory.
For the game, Coffeyville had four players in double figures, led by sophomore Konstantin Popovic, who led the Ravens with 19 points. Red Raven freshman Tyson Tucker poured in 16 points while sophomore Rashid Kuta had 14 points and freshman Jeremiah Ibeziako had 10 points.
Saturday (November 8th) - Ravens defeat Malcolm X College 76-63
In a close game throughout the first half, the Ravens were able to post a 33-26 lead at halftime. In the second half, Coffeyville slowly pulled away to post the final 76-63 victory.
For the fourth straight game, Coffeyville had at least four players in double figures, led by freshman Jack Sorrell with 15 points. Sophomore Rashid Kuta posted a 13-point 11-rebound double-double while freshman Ulysses Webb contributed 13 points, and freshman Tyson Tucker had 12 points.
Coffeyville will return to action this coming Saturday, November 15th, with a home match against the NEO Norsemen. Tipoff in Nellis Hall is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
