#10 Red Ravens Suffer Second Defeat of Season with a 96-76 Defeat at #21 Cowley
Arkansas City, Kan. - The #10 NJCAA-ranked Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Men's Track Team suffered its second loss of the season in a 96-76 road defeat at #21 Cowley Tigers. With the loss, Coffeyville's overall record falls to 8-2 on the season, including a 3-2 record in Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference matchups.
A quick 5-0 run to start the game gave Coffeyville a nice lead just 75 seconds into the game. However, Cowley answered, and at the 10-minute mark of the first half, Cowley had built a 28-19 lead over the Ravens. By halftime, the Tigers had increased their lead to 54-30 over Coffeyville. The second half saw Coffeyville outscore Cowley 46-42, but the Ravens ultimately fell with the final score of 96-76.
Cowley's faster pace of play seemed to cause problems for Coffeyville as the Ravens committed 19 turnovers to Cowley's 7. Cowley converted those 19 Red Raven turnovers into 28 points.
Coffeyville game leaders included sophomore Konstantin Popovic, who had 18 points, while sophomore Daniel Ntambwe contributed 14 rebounds and 6 rebounds. Freshman Ulysses Webb came off the bench to help out with 13 points.
Coffeyville will return to action with a home game against the Conquistadors of Dodge City this Saturday, December 6th. Tipoff in Nellis Hall is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
