Ravens Play Complete Game in Road Win over Dodge City
Coffeyville, Kan. - The Coffeyville Community College men's basketball team was able to snatch a road victory over the #19 NJCAA-ranked Dodge City Conquistadors, with a 98-86 win on Saturday afternoon.
The Red Ravens took advantage of a slow start by Dodge City, leading 5-0 early, and opening an 18-7 lead near the midway point of the first half. Coffeyville continued momentum into the half, leading 47-32 at the break on the Conquistadors.
Dodge City would battle back in the second half, tying the game with seven minutes left and taking their first lead of the day with 6:40 remaining in the game. Coffeyville would proceed to go on a 10-0 run with the game tied at 76, and earn a hard-fought victory to ensure a perfect week.
Jack Sorrell finished with 17 points, seven rebounds, and 10 assists in the victory. Jeremiah Ibeziako had 16 points, while Konstantin Popovic and Ulysses Webb each finished with 15 points. Six Red Ravens finished the afternoon in double figures.
Coffeyville improves to 16-8 with the victory, and are 10-8 in conference play, currently in eighth place in the league standings. The top eight teams in the conference are all separated by just 2.5 games, and the Red Ravens are one game back of fourth place.
The team returns to Nellis Hall on Wednesday night to battle the Cloud County Thunderbirds.
