Current and Former Red Raven Track and Field Athletes Compete at Upcoming Olympic Trials
Eugene, Oregon - Current Red Raven track and field athlete Nolton Shelvin along with former Red Raven trackster Johnnie Jackson will be competing at the upcoming 2020 USA Track and Field Olympic Trials (June 18th - 27th) being held at Hayward Field in Eugene Oregon.
Shelvin, from Winnie Texas, just completed his freshman year as a member of the Coffeyville Red Raven Track and Field Team. Shelvin won the 2021 100m NJCAA Outdoor Championship title with a time of 10.09 seconds. Shelvin's winning time of 10.09 was the seventh fastest ever in NJCAA and earned him the right to compete at the pandemic delayed 2020 Olympic Trials in the 100m. Shelvin was also a member of the 2021 NJCAA National Championship Red Raven 4x100m relay team that won the 2021 NJCAA Championship title with a blistering time of 39.47.
Johnnie Jackson, from Cherry Hill New Jersey, competed as a member of the Red Raven Track and Field Teams in the 2014 and 2015 seasons. Jackson was a 2x NJCAA Indoor National Champion in the Weight Throw (2014 & 2015) as well as being a 2x runner up in the outdoor Hammer Throw (2014 & 2015). After Coffeyville, Jackson moved to the NCAA Div I level where he competed for LSU in the SEC conference. While at LSU Jackson was the 2017 NCAA Indoor Weight Throw Champion along with multi-time All-American. Jackson currently resides in Tuscaloosa Alabama where he trains. Jackson will be competing at the 2020 Olympic trials in the Hammer Throw.
Shelvin is scheduled to compete in the 100m with the opening rounds scheduled to start on Saturday, June 19 at 5:34p pacific time.
Jackson is scheduled to compete in the Hammer Throw with the opening rounds scheduled to start on Friday, June 18 at 12:05p pacific time.
