Red Ravens Earn 1st Victory of the Year With Split of Home Doubleheader vs Butler
Coffeyville, Kan. - The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Softball Team split its home doubleheader against Butler, winning the opening game 6-0 and dropping the second 9-1. With the split, Coffeyville's overall record for the season moves to 1-3.

The Red Ravens earned their first victory of the season with a 6-0 victory over the Butler Grizzlies. Coffeyville posted 4 runs in the third inning, and another 2 runs in the fourth to post a total of 6 runs against the Grizzlies. Red Raven sophomore center fielder Raya Ellert led the Ravens offensively, going 2 for 4 at the plate with 3 RBIs. Red Raven freshman righty Kaydence Pawnee was dominant on the mound for Coffeyville, pitching a complete-game 7 innings, allowing no runs on just 3 hits.

Coffeyville looked to continue the momentum from the first game victory and jumped out early with a 1-0 lead after the first inning. However, Butler came to life, scoring 3 runs in the third along with 5 runs in the fifth on their way to the 9-1 defeat of the Red Ravens. Red Raven freshman first baseman Scarlett Archuletta went 1 for 2 at the plate while collecting an RBI.
Coffeyville continues its season with a home doubleheader scheduled for Tuesday, February 24th, against Metropolitan Community College. Gametimes of 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. at Byers Field.
