2025 Spring Shooting Sports Update
Spring Shooting Sports Update - From Head Shooting Coach, Michael Elrod
We're off to a fantastic start this spring! But before diving into the current season, let's catch up on a bit of news from the off-season.
We said goodbye to two of our top shooters from last fall. Tucker Vesey has taken on a full-time role with the local fire department—an amazing step, and one that speaks to his heart for service. We're proud of the example he continues to set in our Coffeyville community. Tucker wrapped up his first-ever trap season last fall with an impressive average of 37 out of 50 targets.
We also wish the best to Mitchell Duncan, who has chosen to pursue full-time work as well. Mitchell consistently averaged around 39 out of 50 last season. Both of these young men were valuable members of our team, and we're hopeful we'll see them return to the range in the future.
Now, let's turn to our Spring update.
This season, we have five athletes representing CCC in the USA College Clay Target League.
Anna Powers is our only remaining original team member. Her consistency and grit have been a steady force for our team. Anna is known for her ability to adapt and overcome—particularly impressive given that she's left-eye dominant but shoots right-handed. That kind of perseverance defines her presence on this team.
Rachel Regis stepped into uncharted territory as our first shooter with zero shotgun experience before joining. Her boldness in taking on something completely new is exactly what CCC Shooting Sports is all about—helping students discover untapped potential. One of our mantras is: no benchwarmers here. Whether you're a seasoned shooter or just starting, every athlete competes.
Jeremiah Elrod came out strong this spring, hitting a personal best of 38 out of 50 in the very first week. His drive and focus are setting the tone for an exciting season ahead.
Ellie Kippenberger also notched a personal best, breaking 20 out of 25 targets. A fantastic milestone for her—and we know she's just getting started!
Connor Rexwinkle rounds out the team as our newest member. Connor is also involved in our Esports program, demonstrating the diverse talents our student-athletes bring to CCC. He had never shot clay targets before just a few weeks ago, but he's already posted a personal best of 21 out of 25 (40 out of 50 for the day!). That's an incredible leap in a short time, and we're excited to see where he takes this newfound skill.
This is our team, and this is the beginning of what promises to be an exciting Spring season. Shooting Sports at CCC is growing fast, and we're thrilled to be part of this new and dynamic program!
