Red Ravens Defeat SE CC (50-41) and Connors State (74-33) in the Beeson Family Classic
Coffeyville, Kan. - The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Women's Basketball Team hosted the Beeson Family Classic this past weekend in Nellis Hall. The Red Ravens were matched up in two games during the Classic, defeating Southeast Community College on Friday, 50-41, and then turning around to defeat Connors State 74-33 on Saturday. With the two victories, the Ravens improved their overall season record to 4-0.
Friday - Ravens defeat Southeast CC 50-41
Coffeyville fought off a pesky Southeast Community College team that kept the game close before the Ravens extended the final score during the last minutes of the contest. Leading the Ravens was sophomore Aubrey Hishaw, who poured in 21 points on 9-14 shooting. Red Raven Sh'Ryah Wright was also in double figures for Coffeyville with 14 points .
Saturday - Ravens defeat Connors State 74-33
On Saturday, Coffeyville took care of business, defeating Connors State 74-33. Coffeyville was too powerful for the Cowgirls of Connors State as the Ravens led early and often with Coffeyville leading 38-19 at halftime before closing out the game for the 74-33 victory. Red Raven freshman sharpshooter Isabella Pehrson led the Ravens with 18 points (6-9 from 3) while freshman Esme Smith collected a double-double with matching 13's on 13 points and 13 rebounds. Sophomore Aubrey Hishaw just missed her own double-double with 14 points and 9 rebounds.
Coffeyville returns to action in the Butler Community College Classic this coming Thursday (Sept. 13th) and Friday (Sept. 14th). The Ravens will face off against the Bethany JV on Thursday (4:00 p.m.) and McCook Community College on Friday (4:00 p.m.).
