Cold 4th Quarter Sends #25 Red Ravens to a 76-68 Loss at Cloud County
Concordia, Kan. - The #25 NJCAA-ranked Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Women's Basketball Team struggled in the fourth quarter, shooting just 2-21 in the quarter on its way to a 76-68 loss against the Cloud County Thunderbirds. With the loss, Coffeyville's overall record falls to 10-3 on the season, including a 4-3 record in Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) games.
Coffeyville trailed 16-11 after the first quarter, but rallied in the second, outscoring Cloud County 24-18 to take a narrow 35-34 lead into halftime. The Ravens maintained their momentum through the third quarter, adding 23 points to Cloud County's 19, and held a 58-53 advantage heading into the final period.
However, Cloud County responded in the fourth quarter, outscoring Coffeyville 23-10 to secure the win. The Red Ravens shoot just 2-21 (9.5%) overall in the final period, including just 1-10 (10%) from behind the arc.
Overall, Coffeyville was powered by freshman Esme Smith, who tallied 23 points along with 18 rebounds for the impressive double-double. Sophomore Karliey Parker was the only other Raven with double-digit scoring with 10 points.
Coffeyville will wrap up its fall schedule with a home matchup against the Trojans of Colby Community College on Saturday, December 13th. Tipoff in Nellis Hall is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
