Coffeyville, Kan. - The Coffeyville Community College women's basketball team used a late fourth-quarter rally to sneak by the Seward County Saints, 58-56, in a game at Nellis Hall.
The Red Ravens trailed by four after the opening quarter, before outscoring the Saints 15-8 in the second, to take a 28-25 lead to the half. Both teams went on runs in the second half, before Coffeyville ended the game on a 13-5 run.
Esme Smith led the team with 19 points and 11 rebounds, while Aubrey Hishaw had 16 points, nine rebounds, and seven steals. Sophomore Isabella Pehrson made key defensive stops late in the game, and also added six points on two made 3-pointers.
The Lady Ravens sit in third place in the conference standings, holding a tiebreaker over Hutchinson with the head-to-head victory earlier this month. The Ravens travel to Great Bend to take on the Barton Cougars Saturday afternoon.
