Coffeyville, Kan. - The Coffeyville Community College women's basketball team got back in the win column following a weekend loss to Barton, leading wire to wire in a 60-39 victory over the Cowley Tigers at Nellis Hall.
Coffeyville was without sophomore Karliey Parker, who is nursing a right ankle injury suffered on Saturday. Freshman Mahogany Butler made her first career start, posting a career-high 16 points, with six rebounds, three assists, two steals, and two blocks in the win.
The Red Ravens ended the opening quarter on a 10-3 run, to take a seven-point lead to the locker room. Coffeyville led by 13 at the half, with the duo of Butler and Esme Smith combining for seven first half threes.
Cowley would close the gap to six midway through the third quarter, before the Red Ravens ended the period on a 13-6 run.
Aubrey Hishaw had a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds, while Smith finished with 19 points and 11 rebounds.
Coffeyville improves to 18-5 with the victory, and are 12-5 in league play, currently sitting in fourth place. The Ravens travel to Dodge City on Saturday for a date with the second place Conquistadors.
