Coffeyville, Kan. - The Coffeyville Community College women's basketball team was unable to keep up with one of the top offenses in the nation, falling to the Dodge City Conquistadors 94-68 on Saturday afternoon.
Dodge City was at their best on the offensive end, shooting 55% for the game, and converting 19 shots from beyond the arc, at a 51% clip. Five different Conquistadors ended the game in double figures.
Despite a red-hot start to the game from Dodge, the Ravens were able to stay within striking distance, finishing the first quarter trailing by eight. Dodge City would take control in the second quarter, however, with the team outscoring CCC 21-4 in the second period.
Esme Smith finished with a game high 25 points and 13 rebounds in the loss for the Ravens, while Sh'Ryah Wright had 12 points and seven rebounds. Aubrey Hishaw and Hallie Kitchen each finished with 11 points as well.
The Lady Ravens fall to 18-6 on the season, and 12-6 in league play, currently sitting in fourth place in the conference standings. The team is back at Nellis Hall on Wednesday night to host the Cloud County Thunderbirds.
