Coffeyville, Kan. - The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Women's Soccer Team cracked into the win column with a 4-2 victory over the University of Arkansas - Cossatot. With the victory, the Red Ravens' overall season record improves to 1-3-1.
The Red Raven offense was led by sophomore Celeste Lira, who netted two goals on the day, with both goals assisted by sophomore Bernita Baafi. Baafi started the scoring for the Red Ravens with an unassisted goal to get Coffeyville on the scoreboard early. Freshman forward Millie Jones finished off the Raven scoring with a goal late in the second period with an assist from freshman Tiylah Stephenson.
Defensively, Coffeyville was solid, with key contributions from freshman Ana Costa Wang and Bernita Baafi, who helped limit the opponent's scoring opportunities. The goalkeeping duties were handled by Macy Lemke, who recorded one save in the match.
Coffeyville will return to action on Wednesday, September 10th, with a home match to open up KJCCC play against Dodge City. Kick-off set for 2:00 p.m.
