Red Raven Volleyball Earn 3 Victories in Home Tourney!
Coffeyville, Kan. - The Coffeyville Community College Women's Volleyball Team hosted the Red Raven Tournament this past weekend at Field Kindley High School. The Ravens won both matches (3-0 vs Southwestern JV, and 3-0 vs Southwestern Community College) on Friday and split their two games (won 3-1 vs St Louis, and lost 3-2 vs Western Iowa Tech) on Saturday. With the three victories, the Ravens improved their overall record to 6-10.
3-0 Victory vs Southwestern JV
Coffeyville started out strong in their first game with a 3-0 sweep of the Southwestern College JV. The Ravens were led offensively by freshman Genesis Walker, who had 13 kills in the match.
3-0 Victory vs Southwestern Community College
The Ravens continued strong into their second game with another 3-0 sweep, this time over Southwestern Community College. Genesis Walker and freshman Prayer Roebuck excelled with 10 kills each in the match.
3-1 Victory vs St Louis CC
The first game for the Ravens on Saturday saw them defeat St. Louis Community College 3-1. Raven freshman Ainsley Scott led the Ravens with 10 kills, and sophomore Ja'Nae Johns and freshman Ellen Doty each had 11 digs apiece on the defensive side.
3-2 Loss vs Western Iowa Tech
The only loss of the weekend for the Ravens came in their last match as they lost a five-setter to Western Iowa Tech. The Ravens won the first and fourth sets but lost 15-10 in the final set. Ainsley Scott again led the Ravens in kills with 13.
Coffeyville will return to action on Tuesday, September 9th, as they travel to Miami, OK, in a road matchup against Northeastern Oklahoma A&M. First serve in Miami is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
