Red Raven Open KJCCC Season with a 3-0 Loss to #5 Cowley

Arkansas City, KS - The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Women's Volleyball Team had a tough draw for their 2023 Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) 2023 season opener as they had to travel to Arkansas City KS, and played a match against the #5th NJCAA ranked Cowley Tigers.  The Red Ravens eventually lost the match to the Tigers 3-0.  With the loss, the Red Ravens' overall record fell to 2-3 on the season including 0-1 in KJCCC matches.

Coffeyville came out of the gates and played a decent first set, leading by 3 points late in the set, however, the Tigers roared back into the set stringing together a number of points to close out the set 25-22.  The second set went to the Cowley relatively easily in a 25-8 set win and the third set was again competitive, with Cowley earning the set 25-19 and the 3-0 match victory.

Leaders for Coffeyville included sophomore Macie Wayne with 8 kills, sophomore Sarah Madsen with 7 kills and 8 digs as well as sophomore Taylor Burns with 14 assists.

The Red Ravens will return to action with a road trip south to Cisco Texas where they will play a Friday/Saturday (8/25 & 8/26) tournament.  The Ravens are scheduled to play Cisco College (10:00a) and Dallas College Cedar Valley (2:00p) on Friday and then on Saturday Coffeyville will play Midland College (11:00a) and Dallas College Eastfield (1:00p).
