Ravens Power Past #17 NEO 3-1
Miami, Okla. - The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Volleyball Team gained a ranked notch on their belt as they defeated #17 NJCAA-ranked NEO 3-1. With the road victory, the Ravens improved their 2025 season to 7-11.
In a thrilling showdown, Coffeyville Community College pulled off an impressive 3-1 victory over the #17-ranked Northeastern Oklahoma A&M.
The match kicked off with Coffeyville establishing a strong presence in the first set. Coffeyville's defense and timely plays kept them in the game. The first set was tightly contested, but Coffeyville edged out NEO 25-23 to take the 1-0 lead.
In the second set, Coffeyville maintained its momentum, once again narrowly defeating NEO 25-22. The team showcased excellent serve reception and strategic hitting, with freshmen Ashcroft and Prayer Roebuck leading the charge. Coffeyville's blocking efforts, led by freshman Mellina Majeri, disrupted NEO's attack and kept the score close.
The third set saw NEO regroup and push back, taking it 25-19. Despite the setback, Coffeyville responded strongly in the fourth set, demonstrating outstanding teamwork. The Ravens dominated with a 25-23 victory, sealing the match and earning their well-deserved win.
Key contributors for Coffeyville included Ava Ashcroft, who tallied 11.5 points with a mix of kills and serves, and Mellina Majeri, whose hitting percentage was impressive throughout the match. Lauren Crotinger and LiliAnn Whittley also provided valuable support, with strong defense and consistent play.
Coffeyville will return to action on Tuesday, September 16th as they travel to Ottawa KS to play matches against St Mary's at 4:00 p.m. and Ottawa JV at 6:00 p.m.
