Coffeyville, Kan. - The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Volleyball team defeated the Hesston Larks 3-1. With the victory, the Red Ravens' overall record improves to 15-6 (an early season defeat against North Platte has been moved to a forfeit victory in favor of Coffeyville).
Coffeyville came out quickly against the Larks of Hesston as the Red Ravens won the first set 25-10 and then continued right into the second set as the Ravens won the second by a 25-11 score. Head Coach Deardin Kelley subbed in liberally in the third set to give some of her bench players some extended playing time and the Ravens dropped the third set 25-21. Raven starters went back in for the fourth set and Coffeyville put away the Larks with a 25-7 fourth set to earn the 3-1 match victory.
Leaders for the Red Ravens included sophomore Sarah Madsen who notched 15 kills in the match; freshman setter Taylor Burns with 25 assists and freshman Patience Whittaker with 27 digs.
Coffeyville will travel this weekend to Beatrice Nebraska to play in the Southeast Community College Tri. The Ravens are scheduled to play Southeast at 1:00 pm on Saturday, October 1st.
